The Lord Northbrook: A Pub With Heart

Introduction

The Lord Northbrook is a cornerstone of the community. Situated in the heart of leafy Lee, it’s become a much-loved Victorian pub where friends, families, and neighbours gather to enjoy first-class beers, delicious food, and a warm, welcoming atmosphere. Our menu is a celebration of classic pub fare, each dish given a fresh, modern twist using seasonal ingredients. Whether it’s our famous Sunday roasts, a special set meal, or à la carte offerings, there’s something for everyone. As a local favourite, we believe in giving back to the community that has supported us for years. In 2024, we were honored to play an active role in supporting several local causes and events that make Lee such a vibrant place to live. From fundraising for local groups to hosting heartwarming events, we are proud to serve as a true community hub.

What they did

We are very much centered in the heart of the surrounding community and in 2024 we were very involved in supporting our local community’s good causes.

We supported the Manor House Gardens Festival, run by ‘The Friends’, a group of local volunteers who work to maintain and improve this precious green space for the whole community. In June, The Lord Northbrook ran the festival bar and the money raised went towards restoring the fountain in the park lake.

We love an annual Christmas sing-along and we always invite our local church community chorus to come and join us for Christmas carols. It’s a night that really brings together the local community and it’s such a good feel factor for all concerned.

We also support as many local schools as possible, by providing them with prizes for their summer and Christmas fayres; we realise that schools are struggling with budget cuts and it’s our very small way of putting something back into the local community. We provide everything from ice for the school bars to equipment such as urns for mulled wine. More than once we have volunteered to run the local school Christmas and summer fayre bar to help out.

The community reaction

We have very positive feedback from the local community. Customers are already asking to book for next year’s Christmas sing-a-long. Here is some feedback on our event:

“The evening’s entertainment was a real treat. The choir performance was absolutely stunning – their harmonies filled the room and created such a magical atmosphere. It was clear they were incredibly talented. What truly sets The Lord Northbrook apart is how family-friendly it is. We felt so comfortable the entire evening – there was something for everyone to enjoy, and the staff went above and beyond to make sure we were happy”

It’s comments like these that show us how much of an impact a pub can have on its community. And when we walk through Manor House Gardens and see families feeding the ducks by the restored fountain, we feel proud to have been part of something so special.

Impact

In 2024, we were able to make a real difference to some of the most beloved causes in our community.

  • £856.15 raised for The Friends of Manor House Gardens, a local volunteer group dedicated to maintaining and improving the park for everyone in Lee. To learn more about their work, visit their website: Friends of Manor House Gardens.
  • £812 raised for the Our Lady of Lourdes Community Chorus, a talented group of singers who bring music to the local community. Their performances span a variety of styles and genres, and their rehearsals are open to everyone, regardless of experience.

Summary

The Lord Northbrook is dedicated to supporting its local community. In 2024, the pub played an active role in multiple initiatives. It also contributed to local schools through prize donations and volunteering at events. The Lord Northbrook remains a central gathering spot for the area, always striving to give back and strengthen local connections.
