The Kings Head Inn in Llangennith, Swansea has been crowned best in Wales for its fundraising work at the PubAid Community Pub Hero Awards. 

The Kings Head Inn was nominated by Tonia Antoniazzi, the Labour MP for Gower, to compete in the award for ;Community Fundraising Hero for Wales’. 

The PubAid Community Fundraising Hero Award recognises pubs who support charities and other good causes through fundraising. The awards are ran with the All-Party Parliamentary Beer Group, which is also Chaired by Tonia. 

The pub won for its fundraising efforts focused on employees and patrons. This includes a front-of-house team member whose family faced the heartbreaking loss of her nine-year-old grandson. The pub also fundraised for 2 Wish after it supported the family and it has raised funds for a former employee following a cancer diagnosis.

The Kings Inn was crowned at a prestigious award ceremony, sponsored by Matthew Clark, at the Houses of Parliament on 4 March. Lara Joslin and Matthew Joslin from The Kings Head Inn attended, along with industry leaders and MPs. 

On winning the award, Lara Joslin at The Kings Head Inn said: “We were really grateful to be nominated. We have had many personal stories which are the reasons we have done our fundraising so this means even more to us. It’s very personal to us as it was employees and former employees that we were raising money.”
